Cloudy water is request number one, and it usually means filtration or chemistry, not both. Algae spots come second: black algae in plaster cracks needs aggressive treatment, not just shock. Third is noise: a pump that suddenly screams or hums is telling you a bearing or capacitor is about to quit.
All three are cheap to fix early and expensive late, which is exactly why weekly eyes on a pool matter.
